History
Our department was established in 1968. With the division of our university in 1993, our department moved to Eskişehir Osmangazi University and after a four-year hiatus, it started its activities again in the Anadolu University İki Eylül Campus in 1997. Our department continues its education activities under the name of Eskişehir Technical University, which was established with the Law No. 7141 published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018 and numbered 30425.
About Us
The Department of Chemical Engineering offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Graduate programs are monitored by the Graduate School of Education. The necessary quotas for Master's and PhD programs are announced to students by the university and the department. Before being admitted to Master's and PhD programs, students are subjected to certain exams.
Undergraduate
Students are selected by OSYM based on the scores they obtained from the LYS exam and their preferences. Approximately 75 students are enrolled in the department every year. The program duration is 4 years. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.00 to graduate.
The language of instruction is 30% English. Students who fail the English proficiency exam must attend an English preparatory school for one year before starting their courses.
Undergraduate students are required to complete a minimum of 40 business days of internship to graduate from the department. At the end of the internship, the reports prepared by the students are evaluated by the internship committees.
Graduate
Students in this program are required to take courses and prepare and defend a thesis on a research topic.
PhD
The doctoral program covers courses and research. After completing the Master's program, students who are enrolled in the doctoral program for four years must present their completed research on an original research topic in the form of a thesis and pass an oral exam in order to complete the program.
The education Policy
The education policy of the department is to provide professional education with laboratory support by following the scientific and technological developments in the field of chemical engineering. To this end, the Chemical Engineering undergraduate program offers courses that provide sufficient theoretical knowledge, develop experimental skills, and focus on the design and application of chemical processes and technologies. The department collaborates with various international universities. The department's laboratories have modern equipment and facilities for student education. In addition, the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Scientific Research Center (AUBIBAM), established with the support of the United Nations Development Program and Anadolu University, provides instrumental analysis and pilot plant facilities for many applications of chemical engineering. Graduates of the program have employment opportunities in various industries such as chemistry, food, petroleum refining, pharmaceuticals, paint, fertilizer, cement, ceramics, and more.
